Introduction

Telearn ("we", "us", or "our") operates an AI-powered language learning service available through Telegram and at telearn.net. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We collect what we need to teach you languages, protect your account, and bill your subscription. We don't sell your data.

By using Telearn, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

Information we collect

Telegram account data. When you interact with our Telegram bot, we receive your Telegram user ID, username (if set), display name, and language preference as provided by the Telegram platform.

Account credentials. If you register with an email and password through the bot or website, we store a securely hashed version of your password and your email address.

Conversation content. We process the text and voice messages you send to Telearn in order to provide language coaching, grammar feedback, translations, and related features. Voice messages may be transcribed for analysis.

Usage data. We collect information about how you use Telearn, including message counts, streaks, stars earned, subscription tier, feature usage, and timestamps of activity.

Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store full credit card numbers; we receive confirmation of payment status and billing identifiers from our payment partners.

Website data. When you visit telearn.net, we may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and session cookies required for authentication.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Telearn language learning experience
  • Personalize lessons, vocabulary review, and long-term memory features
  • Process subscriptions and manage your account
  • Send service-related notifications through Telegram
  • Monitor usage limits according to your plan (Gold, Diamond, etc.)
  • Detect abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service
  • Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve our product

AI processing

Telearn uses third-party AI models to generate responses, analyze grammar, transcribe voice, and provide translations. Your messages may be sent to these providers for processing. We configure our integrations to minimize data retention by AI providers where supported.

We do not use your private conversations to train public AI models without your explicit consent. Processing is for delivering your session, not for building a public dataset.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate Telearn (hosting, AI APIs, payment processing, analytics)
  • Telegram as required to deliver messages through their platform
  • Legal authorities when required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety

All third-party providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Data retention

We retain your account data and conversation history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Long-term memory features (available on Diamond plans) store selected context to personalize future sessions.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@telearn.net. We will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your role

Use a strong Telegram password with two-step verification. Don't share your bot session or website login with others.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@telearn.net.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Telearn is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the Telegram bot or by posting an updated policy on this page. Continued use of Telearn after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
